CLEARWATER, May 1, 2007 - Per her physician's instructions, Rounder Records recording artist Mary Chapin Carpenter has cancelled her summer touring plans. As a result, her July 1 concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall will not take place.

Carpenter recently finished the Spring 2007 leg of The Calling tour during which time she experienced pain from a recent back injury. She was subsequently hospitalized for a pulmonary embolism, possibly as a result of her limited movement during the spring tour. Having been released from Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA last week, Carpenter is well on her way to recovery and hopes to resume touring sometime in 2008.

In the meantime, Ruth Eckerd Hall patrons should return their tickets for Carpenter's July 1 concert to their point of purchase for a refund. To avoid delays, tickets should be returned by June 1, 2007. It is not necessary to return tickets via expedited or special delivery. Once tickets are received, refunds will be issued to the credit card of purchase. Refund checks will be mailed to those who purchased with check or cash. Please allow 10 business days.
