The Exploratory Division

Exploratory ClassesThe Exploratory Division allows students from toddlers through adults to select classes that suit their interests. These 10-week courses offer opportunities to discover talents, explore interests and experience the arts. There are endless opportunities to grow at the Hoffman Institute!

The Preparatory Division

Prepratory ClassesThe Preparatory Division classes for ages 7–19 are suitable for students who have talents they wish to develop through sequential study to prepare for college-level training and/or a career in the arts.

Students are required to audition before a panel of arts advisors for placement in our structured curriculum.  Study tracks include dance, drama, vocal, musical theater, classical instrumental and jazz instrumental.

All students enrolled in the preparatory division receive membership in the Prep Guild which provides opportunity for deeply discounted tickets to select performances and experiences at Ruth Eckerd Hall.

Preparatory Division students who are high school sophomores and above may choose to enrich their training throughout the year by participating in master classes and workshops. These opportunities are usually in connection with an artist or company being presented at Ruth Eckerd Hall or in residency at the Institute.  Information regarding workshops and master classes will be distributed through class instructors and will be posted on the website.  Additional fees may apply.

Individual Instruction

Individual Instruction is available for voice, drama, violin, piano, guitar and brass instruments throughout the year for youth and adults. Through one-on-one instruction the teacher assists the participant in discovering their full potential and directing them in a continued use of their talents in a method that focuses on the individual development rather than the development of the group or ensemble.  The outcome for the participant is a strengthening of technique, artistic skill, self awareness, and individual possibilities.

I am a parent with above average expectations for programs I pay to put my daughter in. This is one of the few programs that met and possibly even exceeded my expectations….We will be back for a summer camp next year.- Kendall's mom
"Top notch, professional…my daughter’s first experience with the arts on this scale, albeit summer theater camp, but still so important just the same. My wife, mother, and I were ecstatic!" - Katilyn's dad
