Beneficiary Designations

Simple and Easy Way to Provide for Ruth Eckerd Hall

When you change a beneficiary designation you do not have to consult an attorney, although it may be a good idea to be sure that the changes coordinate with your existing estate plan. You can change beneficiaries via a beneficiary designation of life insurance, annuities, 401(k)s, individual retirement accounts retirement plans and payable on death accounts. If you have a retirement plan you need to be sure to consult with your plan provider because some beneficiary designations cannot be changed without the consent of your spouse.
