The all NEW Murray Theatre at Ruth Eckerd Hall!

The NEW Murray Theatre offers state-of-the-art educational programming and will be the world class home to many of our local production companies. This unique and special venue fulfills the mission set out by Ruth Eckerd Hall over 30 years ago while honoring the vision of Ray and Nancy Murray.

Murray Theatre enhancements include:

Exterior
  • New 2.5 story-high entrance/drop-off canopy with LED lighting system and new marquee signage
  • New exterior-accessible Ticket Office
Lobby
  • Enlarged Lobby space featuring updated interior finishes
  • New concessions in lobby
Theater
  • All-new seats and updated flooring
  • New seating configurations: cabaret (with tables) and food, theatre in the round, thrust stage mixed seating both tables and seats
  • Interior theater entrance relocated to back-of-house (Broadway style!)
  • New storage space for theater equipment & props

What’s coming to The NEW Murray Theatre

A new milestone series of visiting productions from many regional West Florida Theatrical companies called the Florida Play Festival will fill the Murray schedule with presentations by partner theaters including:

• The musical Ain’t Misbehavin’(Stageworks Theatre) on May 21-24

The Apocrypha of Theodore Roosevelt (Tampa Repertory) on May 29-30

• Exciting Improv Group from the Florida Studio Theatre (Sarasota) on May 15

• The well-respected local favorite, Hat Trick Theatre, will present a riotous new comedy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) in celebration of becoming the Murray’s official in-house theater company on April 23-25

• An original new play series starting with A New Mystery To Quiet the Quiet in March will pave the way for discovering new playwrights at the Murray

Project: Shattered Silence will return with new productions featuring returning veterans and a look at the lives of local entertainers and their personal journeys on June 11-21

• A new foreign and classic film club featuring some of the most well-respected movies will bring together patrons in an exciting way to view and discuss films. Moulin Rouge will kick off the series on May 9

• Our Los Angeles partners the GRAMMY Museum’s® Music Revolution Project will return for their third amazing summer teaching 35 new teenagers to create 18 astonishing new original songs- Performance on August 14

• The Popular local singer-songwriter and worship leader, Brad Noblitt, headlines “Acoustic Joy

• The return of star-show concerts at the Murray Cabaret Theatre including Emily Kopp, John McEuen, Loretta Young Project, Henry Gross on May 2 and Vonda Shepherd on May 14
