The Show Must Go On

Published: July 12, 2019

It’s been quite a busy season here at Ruth Eckerd Hall. This year alone we’ve already presented over 100 shows and sold hundreds of thousands of tickets. We’ve had the unique opportunity to present these shows amidst construction!

If you’ve been to a show or an event at the Hall lately, you have seen that the front of the theatre is a hard hat area! The 1,000 sq. ft. lobby is currently under construction; but, our new Grand Lobby, which will be six time larger, will be open for business in the fall! Our expanded atrium will include the Kate Tiedemann and Ellen Cotton Cabaret Theatre with the Holt Family Stage. Arrive early to enjoy live music by the students of the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts, maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of the next star to grace the prestigious Ruth Eckerd Hall stage.

Ruth Eckerd Hall’s expansive re-imagining would not be possible if not for our wonderful donors. Over the past few years, as part of our Expanding the Experience $34 Million Capital Campaign, our members and patrons have helped us successfully renovate the Capitol Theatre - a beloved Downtown Clearwater landmark, the Murray Theatre - the epicenter of our Education program and the Margarete Heye Great Room - an elegant space where life’s special moments are celebrated. Next, the crown jewel, Ruth Eckerd Hall is undergoing a major multilevel renovation, including an expansive six lane grand entry that is already complete, expediting exit and entry for all events. While members will enjoy a gorgeous two story Dress Circle lounge with stunning floor to ceiling windows; the general public will appreciate the new, covered, Raymond James Financial Ticket Office.

After fruitfully raising $19 million for the overall campaign, the current phase, State of the Art, will raise an additional $15 million for ancillary construction costs, facility and patron experience improvements, future projects, a reserve fund and Marcia P Hoffman School of the Arts endowment.
