The Florida Alliance for Arts Education has announced that Sharon Reid-Kane, Education & Outreach Officer/Vice President of Education & Outreach for the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall has been named the recipient of the 2018 Arts Education Professional Award.

Reid-Kane joined Ruth Eckerd Hall twelve years ago, from the Pinellas County School Board. Recently, she was promoted from the Vice President of Education & Outreach at the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts to the Education & Outreach Officer/Vice President of Education & Outreach at the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts, where she oversees a nationally recognized school that provides more than 81,000 hours of high-caliber arts education programs and experiences that reach more than 41,000 students annually. These programs and experiences are held on the Ruth Eckerd Hall campus and off-site at schools and outreach programs across the Tampa Bay area and throughout the State of Florida.

“As Arts Educators and Administrators, we don’t do the work we do seeking any kind of recognition. We do it because we love it, we do it because we believe in it, and we do it because we know it works!” comments Reid-Kane. “I am so proud to be a part of the arts community and a representative of Ruth Eckerd Hall, and am humbled to receive this distinction.”

The mission of the FAAE is to improve, enhance, and promote arts education in Florida. Its vision is to ensure that every child in every school has access to a well-rounded education that includes a comprehensive, sequential, high-quality program of arts instruction; and for all Florida communities to have broad-based cultural programs available to support lifelong learning in the through the arts.
