(CLEARWATER) This summer, the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall returns and will offer a variety of classes to students of all ages, providing them with the opportunity to explore their talents, discover new friends and learn from professional arts instructors. Classes kick-off Monday, June 14 and enrollment is open now. Space is extremely limited, advance enrollment is required. Current CDC safety protocols will be followed for all classes. In making the announcement, Sharon Reid-Kane, Chief Officer of Education & Community Engagement / Vice President of Education & Community Engagement at The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts commented, “This summer holds special significance as we celebrate being back together! Keeping safety as our steadfast top priority, and all that will entail, we are committed to providing a summer of exploration, discovery, creativity, and JOY as our campers fill their days with every kind of art. We simply cannot wait to welcome everyone back with open hearts and smiling eyes. It’s a new day to shine!”
One-week performing arts camps are available for ages 5-7 and 8-10 including Superheroes and Silly Sidekicks, Sci-Fi Week, Mermaids and Pirates, Fairytale Frenzy and Game On!
Students ages 14-18 can audition for the production camp, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The camp will run Monday, June 14 – Saturday, July 10 and no experience is necessary. Performances of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be directed by Jack Holloway, Drama Department Chair with musical direction by Yohance Wicks, Music Department Chair. Performances will be on the Murray Theatre stage on Thursday and Friday, July 8 & 9 at 7 pm and Saturday, July 10 at 2 & 7 pm.
The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts Alumni are invited to return for a production of The Fantasticks. This performance camp will run Monday, July 12 – Saturday, August 7. Performances of The Fantasticks will be directed by Jack Holloway, Drama Department Chair with musical direction by Yohance Wicks, Music Department Chair. Performances will be on the Murray Theatre stage Thursday and Friday, August 5 & 6 at 7 pm and Saturday, August 7 at 2 & 7 pm. Auditions are open for alumni ages 18 and up.
