Above/Below: A Dance + Photography Experience is an immersive contemporary dance performance by projectALCHEMY created in collaboration with resident artist Joey Clay, photographer and filmmaker. Inspired by the embodiment of tarot and the process of shadow work, the work draws from Major Arcana cards that emerged through Artistic Director Alexander Jones’s personal tarot practice. The dancers move as seekers—confronting the shadow self and integrating its truths in pursuit of becoming more whole.

The Murray Studio Theatre transforms into a living gallery featuring Clay’s photography before the images come to life through contemporary dance. With audiences seated on three sides of the performance space, Above/Below creates an intimate environment where movement, light, and shadow converge in a layered exploration of transformation.
