Reggae Sound Splash Fest with The Wailers
featuring Julian Junior Marvin, Third World, Inner Circle and Ska-Talites
Reggae Sound Splash Fest with The Wailers featuring Julian Junior Marvin, Third World, Inner Circle and Ska-Talites makes its debut at The BayCare Sound, bringing a wave of island rhythm and coastal energy to Clearwater’s waterfront!
Julian “Junior” Marvin, the Kingston-born guitarist, actor, and founding member of The Legendary Wailers, began his career in London, appearing in The Beatles’ Help! and the original London production of Hair. A sought-after session musician, Marvin contributed to recordings by artists such as Traffic, Toots & The Maytals, Fairport Convention, and Steve Winwood before receiving invitations to join both Stevie Wonder’s band and Bob Marley & The Wailers in 1977. Choosing Marley’s group, he made his debut on the landmark album Exodus, later recognized by Time Magazine as the “Album of the Century,” while One Love was named the “Song of the Millennium.” As lead guitarist, Marvin played on all subsequent Bob Marley & The Wailers albums, including Survival, which featured his acclaimed guitar work on Africa Unite, earning him a place in Guitar World’s “Top 100 Guitarists of All Time.” Since Bob Marley’s passing, he has continued recording with The Wailers on albums including ID, Majestic Warriors, Jah Message, and My Friends (Live), while also releasing solo projects such as Wailin’ For Love and Lion To Zion Dub Wise. Today, Marvin leads his own incarnation of The Legendary Wailers, highlighted by the release of the single Message of Love and the album Message of Love.
Third World is one of reggae’s most enduring and influential bands, celebrating nearly 50 years of global success. Known for pioneering a “reggae-fusion” sound that blends reggae with R&B, funk, pop, and rock, the group has earned nine Grammy® nominations and international hits including Now That We Found Love, 96 Degrees in the Shade, and Try Jah Love. Throughout their career, they have performed alongside music legends such as Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Santana, and The Jackson 5, reaching audiences across six continents. Their accomplishments include international chart success, a United Nations Peace Medal, and performances at some of the world’s most prestigious venues and events. Continuing to evolve while staying true to their Jamaican roots, Third World remains a globally respected cultural institution, with their 2019 album More Work To Be Done earning a Grammy® nomination for Best Reggae Album.
Inner Circle is a Grammy® Award-winning Jamaican reggae band that has been one of the genre’s most influential and internationally successful groups for more than four decades. Known for their distinctive blend of reggae, pop, and high-energy live performances, they have achieved widespread crossover appeal and shared festival stages with major global artists including Elton John, Santana, and Peter Gabriel. After rising to prominence in the late 1970s with hits such as Mary, Mary and Music Machine, the band overcame the tragic loss of lead singer Jacob Miller in 1980 and successfully rebuilt its career. Inner Circle reached new heights in the 1990s with the global smash hits Bad Boys and Sweat (A La La La La Long), selling millions of records worldwide and earning a Grammy® Award for Best Reggae Album. Their music gained further mainstream recognition through film and television, including the use of Bad Boys as the theme song for both the popular TV series COPS and the Bad Boys movie franchise.
The Skatalites, the pioneering architects of Jamaican ska, are celebrating more than 60 years of musical influence in 2025. Formed in 1964 after serving as the backing band for legendary artists including Bob Marley, Toots and The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Alton Ellis, and Ken Boothe, they helped define the sound that laid the foundation for ska, rocksteady, and reggae. Although the group disbanded in 1965, their music inspired a global revival in the late 1970s and early 1980s, influencing the UK’s Two-Tone movement and bands such as The Specials, Madness, The English Beat, and The Selecter. The Skatalites continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their authentic Jamaican ska, performing at festivals, theaters, casinos, and intimate venues while preserving the legacy of one of the most influential bands in Caribbean music history.
